MusicTenebrae Service

With the Newquay Singers

This year's Tenebrae Service for Good Friday will feature the remarkable, although little known, Requiem by Irish composer Charles Villiers Stanford, perhaps better known for his many church anthems. Opera singers Rebecca Murphy, Dawn Burns, Glen Tweedie and David Howes make up the solo quartet that will join the Newquay Singers to provide the sumptuous choral sound.

Narrator Derek Lord

Derek Lord

One of Dublin's best-known actors, Derek Lord (Take the High Road, Game of Thrones), will narrate the 'lessons' leading to the crucifixion of Christ, within the service taken by the Rev Dr Ian Denis. Everyone, of any faith or none, is welcome to attend this powerful retelling of Christ's last days, interwoven with Stanford's moving late-Victorian choral masterpiece.
