This is Portico’s Community Choir. Made up of members from all over, it practices on Wednesday evenings in Holywood and performs regularly in Portaferry. The choice of music is largely liturgical and our membership is drawn from all religious denominations and all ages.

By tradition each year we sing at Portico’s Harvest Thanksgiving Service, a Service of Nine Lessons and Carols and a Tenebrae Service on Good Friday.  For 2019 we’re working on Cherubini’s Requiem but our repertoire includes pieces by Stanford, Parry, Tavener, Mendelssohn, Bruckner, Handel and many others.  We have sung Faure’s Requiem in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh and, by invitation, choral evensong in St George’s Parish Church, Belfast and St John’s, Malone.

In 2014 we staged a sell-out production of Handel’s Acis and Galatea and in 2015 we performed for HRH The Prince of Wales at the opening of Portico.  Later that year we were recorded by Radio Ulster for the Sunday Service.
