Volunteers

Volunteers are valued very highly at PORTICO, whether they are able to give one day a week or one day a year. Our volunteers carry out a wide range of tasks such as:

  • helping to devise events - from festivals to film shows
  • providing practical help like fetching musicians from airports or being ushers at concerts
  • working on specific projects like sorting and scanning local archive records 
  • being heritage guides to our visitors
  • sharing skills like sound engineering, lighting or film projection
  • organising activities like singing sessions for children or a book club.

Becoming a Volunteer

We welcome volunteers of all ages from teenagers looking for work experience to more mature people keen to explore their own interests or wanting to give something back to the community.
