What's in a tour?

day trip tour heritage activity Portico Portaferry

The tour lasts approximately one hour after which you are welcome to explore the building, its displays, the organ or our digital tablets for a further hour.

The tours tell the fascinating history of the building’s architecture and restoration as well as encompassing interactive exhibitions on local history and on the history of western Christian church music (with audio samples). The organ loft displays explore the inner workings of the instrument and the history of the organ over the last two millennia. You also have the opportunity to play on the stunning new organ console – or let the organ give you a recital all on its own.
If groups have an interest in a particular aspect of Portico and its displays these can be explored in greater depth by prior arrangement.

Please allow at least one week's notice when making a booking.
