Portico is a beautiful grade A-listed fully restored Greek Revival building in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It offers 21st Century A/V facilities, ample car parking and is fully accessible making it both modern and unique. It is an ideal venue for a wide range of events from  weddings to funerals, and conferences to concerts.

The stage area is 4m wide and 5m deep. It can be raised by about a metre and extended - as shown in this picture.

Portico’s auditorium seats 200 people on the ground floor and a further 100 in the balcony. 

Space for break out at conferences

The Orr Room is our elegantly panelled period meeting room with stunning Art Deco stained glass windows and a period “hunt table” which can seat up to 16 people. Alternatively, the table can be folded away and up to 30 people can be accommodated in a lecture style layout. The room has full A/V facilities.

The building-wide steps and classical columns are a perfect backdrop for stylish wedding photography. Our attractive first floor terrace is ideal for a glass of something before a concert or after a wedding.

The Quadrangle

Accessibility, parking and catering

Portico is fully accessible with lifts, dedicated bathroom facilities and parking at both ends of the building.

There is ample free parking immediately adjacent to Portico and across the road.

Using our local catering partners we can offer a variety of catering options from a cup of tea and a biscuit to sandwiches and cakes, or a light meal.
